Russia: Growth of softwood lumber exports, while prices fall
Russian softwood lumber exports in the first nine months of 2014 grew by 8% to 16.3 million m3, Whatwood reported. The highest surge was in deliveries to Egypt (+23% to 1.2 million m3), while to China they've increased by +11% to 6.2 million m3; to Europe – by +9% to 1.6 million m3. A significant decrease occured on the Japanese market, where an increase in the consumption tax in this country in April 2014 has led to a decline in construction activity.
