EU wood pellet imports forecast to recover in 2025
EU demand for pellets has significantly outpaced domestic production over the past ten years, resulting in increased imports from the United States, and to a lesser extent Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and more recently Brazil, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. In 2024, EU wood pellet imports totaled 4.48 MMT (with a value of $1.0 billion), which is 0.42 MMT less than reported in 2023.
