European furniture manufacturers are pressing for changes to the EU-India Free Trade Agreement, warning that the proposed terms could give Indian producers easier access to the European market while leaving significant obstacles in place for European exporters.
The dispute centres on differences in tariff reductions, lengthy certification procedures and the enforcement of product standards. Industry representatives support an agreement with India but want stronger guarantees that European companies will be able to compete under comparable conditions.
