EU softwood lumber exports to Japan fall 25%

In the first four months of 2014, EU lumber exports to Japan have seriously fallen. As Japan is expanding its own lumber production, its need for imports is proportionally decreasing. Already at the beginning of this year the Japanese Forestry Agency drew up demand projection for the first quarter and second quarters of this year. According to this, the first quarter would stay without much change but the second quarter would drop related to the end of rush orders in late last year. Also, the Agency expected an increase of almost 5% in Japan's lumber production.    ...
