USA becoming a more attractive market for the European softwood lumber
European softwood lumber shipments to the US have reached levels unseen since before the global financial crisis. Exports almost doubled in the first eight months of the year, with the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden leading the way. As the Canadian companies, which used to send most of the softwood lumber to the US, are now confronting countervailing duties, the exports from the European Union countries have become more attractive.
