EU increases purchases of Norwegian softwood as prices rise in 2025
The European Union increased its purchases of Norwegian softwood logs and lumber sharply in the first nine months of 2025, according to Eurostat data. Strong demand in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, combined with tighter Norwegian supply, pushed both volumes and values significantly higher. EU imports of Norwegian softwood logs reached 4.40 million m³ in Jan–Sep 2025, up 54% from 2.85 million m³ in the same period of 2024.
