During August 2016, the price of wood pellets in Germany reached EUR 222.54/tonne. The price decreased by 0.1%, compared to July and by 4% compared to August 2015.
Wood pellets currently have a 30% price advantage as opposed to natural gas, and 8% against heating oil.
"The market is in the summer, as usual, very stable," explains Martin Bentele, Managing Director of DEPV. "But the next winter is close! So who hasn't filled its pellet supplies, should use the time until the start of the heating season," Bentele further recommends.
During August 2016, the wood pellets’ price has the following regional differences in Germany: in central Germany the price is set at EUR 220.40/t (for a 6 t purchase), being the lowest in the country. In northern and eastern Germany, the price is EUR 228.77/t, thus the highest, while in southern Germany the 6 t amount costs EUR 222.02/t.
Larger quantities (26 t) were traded in June in the following conditions: central and northern/ eastern Germany: EUR 205.97/t; south: EUR 209.12/t, (all including VAT).
