During November, the price of EN plus wood pellets in Germany amounted to an average of EUR 230.20/tonne. This represents a 1.7% increase as compared to October 2016 and a -2.3% decline over November 2015.
Wood pellets have a price advantage over natural gas of around 26.8% and of 7.4% to heating oil, as shown in the data provided by the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV).
Regional prices
During November 2016, the wood pellets’ price has the following regional differences: in southern Germany the price is set at EUR 228.91/t (for a 6 t purchase), being the lowest in the country. In northern and eastern Germany, the price is EUR 232.17/t, thus the highest, while in central Germany the 6 t amount costs EUR 230.08/t.
Larger quantities (26 t) were traded in November in the following conditions: central Germany: EUR 215.35/t; south: EUR 215.49/t, north and east: EUR 212.63/t. (all including VAT).
