European woodworking and sawmill industries welcome EC’s legislative proposal on certification of carbon removals
The publication today by the European Commission of a draft legislative proposal on the certification of carbon removals has been broadly welcomed by the European woodworking and sawmill industries. As the European Union increases its effort to become net-zero by 2050 the priority must be to reduce the emission of carbon into the atmosphere. At the same time we also need to remove carbon from the atmosphere and hence the importance of this Commission proposal. Storing carbon in sustainable wood products in the built environment is one way in which such removals can be achieved, as identified in this proposal. All carbon removals, whether in the built environment, farming, forestry or industry, need to be accurately accounted for hence the importance of the Commission’s proposed framework which will ensure Europe has high quality carbon removals operating under a strong governance... Siempelkamp to supply fiberboard production plant in the US
CalAg LLC commissioned Siempelkamp with the supply of a production plant for fiberboard made of rice straw. CalAg LCC is investing more than $315 million for the new location in Willows, California. This order requests Siempelkamp’s complete range of services. From a single source Siempelkamp will plan, build, supply, install, and startup the entire machine technology for the Willows location amounting to an order value of Euro 75 million. The order includes the complete preparation technology for rice straw bales with bale twine remover and shredder by Pallmann, a 100 % daughter company of Siempelkamp, as well as a cleaning system for the straw to remove coarse materials and dust. Dubai WoodShow 2019 closes with record number of visitors, exhibitors
Dubai WoodShow 2019, the region's largest wood and wood machinery showcase, closed on a grand note with a record number of over 240 exhibitors from 45 countries with 48 first-time participants and a packed show of over 530 brands. The show, which saw 192 repeat exhibitors showcase their products at the Dubai World Trade Centre, also recorded onsite deals worth $70 million. LIGNA Conference coming to Guangzhou, China
