Veolia aquires UK RDF producer
Veolia, the French environmental services giant, recently bought Gloucestershire, UK based waste wood processer and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) producer, located in Avonmouth, Bristol. The Boomeco site uses a procedure to transform a mixture of grades of wood into wood chips. These wood chips are used in combined heat and power plants, that later produce RDF from residual household waste, according to Waste Management World (WMW). Veolia bought the UK producer as to increase its strategy to save resources by using green products and low carbon energy. Gavin Graveson, Veolia’s chief operating officer public and commercial in the UK, stated that with the help of Veolia’s plans in ongoing expansion in biomass and RDF production, the UK will complete its targets of carbon emissions by 2020, alongside with reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enhancing domestic energy security. “We...
