350 meter wooden skyscrapper planned in Tokyo
Sumitomo Forestry (SFC) summarized the concept W350 plan to realize wooden high-rise building with a height of 350 meter. According to the announcement, the objective of the project is to realize an environmentally-friendly city made of high-rise buildings made of wood, transforming the town into forest. The conceptual plan was prepared mainly by Tsukuba Research Laboratory of the company’s R&D institute. It provides a road map to future technologies such as building construction method, environmentally conscious technology, development of trees that become used parts and resources, and widens the possibility of wooden buildings in future. This building is a wooden steel hybrid structure with 90% wood ratio. With the height of 350 meters, the building has 70 floors above ground. It consumes 185,000 m3 of wood.
