Metsä Wood cuts 48 jobs at LVL and plywood mills
Metsä Wood completed the statutory labour negotiations to implement a new target organisation model at all of its Kerto® LVL and plywood mills. As a result, Metsä will reduce personnel by 48 people. The personnel reductions will mainly be implemented during the first quarter of 2016, the company announced. The negotiations started in November 2015 as part of the performance improvement programme announced in late 2014. The programme aims for further improvements in production in line with the company’s industrial efficiency strategy and for increased labour flexibility at its production units in Finland. Metsä Wood’s sawmills introduced the new target organisation model during 2015 and the new salary system on January 1, 2016.
