Belarus to boost exports of sawn timber to China via railway
Since the beginning of this year, the exports of Belarusian Forestry Ministry enterprises have increased significantly. From January to May, wood processing companies exported 352,700 cubic meters of sawn timber. This is an increase of nearly 30% over the same period last year. The export for the same period in 2019 was 271,800 cubic meters. In the future, the railway export capacity will be further expanded. This year, the Belarusian Railway will begin construction of a new Chinese-European freight terminal. It will be located in the Great Stone Industrial Park, an industrial park jointly invested by China and Belarus. The design and preliminary works of the future cargo terminal will begin this year. At the initial stage, participants intend to invest approximately US$30 million. The project includes the construction of the freight terminal itself, cargo storage area and railway...
