Huber cancels plans to build US$ 439 million OSB plant
Leading specialty building products manufacturer Huber Engineered Woods LLC (HEW), a subsidiary of J.M. Huber Corporation, announced that, due to delays, it will no longer develop its new oriented strand board (OSB) facility in Cohasset, MN, as originally intended and announced in June 2021. In June of 2021, Huber Engineered Woods announced that it planned to build a USD 439 million OSB plant in Cohasset, Minn. Egger invests 25 million euros in the Unterradlberg plant
The Egger Group invested in the 25 million euros in its Lower Austrian production facility in Unterradlberg. This involves investments in the modernization of the entire chipboard production. Production in the Egger Group's third plant was shut down for five weeks in October in order to efficiently carry out the planned conversion and maintenance work on the primary chipboard production plants. During this time, the raw board press and the gluing along with the associated controls were renewed. Work continued until the beginning of November to set it up and implement it. Almost all of the site's technical staff, as well as workers from other plants, carried out the maintenance work together with the fitters from the suppliers. South Korean Dongwha to build large MDF and laminated flooring plant in Vietnam
Dongwha Enterprise, one of South Korea’s best wood materials manufacturer, began construction of its very first independent production facility in Hanoi, Vietnam. The manufacturing plant, which is located in Thai Nguyen Province near the capital city of Hanoi, will mainly manufacture laminated flooring and medium-density fiberboard (MDF) that is used to make furniture. An overall sum of 180 billion won (US$ 145 million) has been put into the plant which covers 50,000 square meters. Dongwha Enterprise hopes to complete construction of the manufacturing plants for laminate flooring and medium-density fiberboard in April and August of 2021, respectively. Segezha to build new glulam plant in Karelia, Russia
Segezha Group is planning the construction of a glued laminated timber plant in Segezha, Republic of Karelia, Russia. Investment in the project will amount to some RUB 13.4 billion ($184 million). The plant's output will be 240,000 m3. The commission is scheduled for 2023. The plant will manufacture glulam products for Russia, the EU member states and Japan. China: New OSB plant to start production in 2020
Work to build a new Chinese OSB factory for wood-based materials manufacturer Jiangsu Hui Dian New Materials Co Ltd will start in 2020. Siempelkamp has attracted a new customer in its agreement to supply the production plant to Jiangsu Hui Dian. The location for the new plant is Shuyang in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. One of Siempelkamp Group’s plants is situated about 350km north of the location in Qingdao. The production line will feature an 8.5ft x 38.8m 8th generation ContiRoll press. The special feature of this plant will be the ability to produce OSB that can be laminated. Similar to OSB, this new product has a fine particleboard surface layer comparable to particleboards used in furniture production. Arauco to build $235 million MDF line in Mexico
Arauco Board of Directors approved the construction of a new MDF line in Zitácuaro, Mexico. The project includes an estimated investment of $235 million and state-of-the-art operational, environmental and security technology. The commissioning of the project is estimated to be in the 2Q 2025. Arauco is the main producer of wood boards in Mexico and it is estimated that this project would add about 300,000 m3 of MDF production per year, half of which will be melamine-coated to meet growing demands of furniture, construction, interior decorating industries in Mexico.
