Danzer to sell Bradford sawmill in Pennsylvania
German hardwood specialist Danzer has closed the sale of its hardwood lumber sawmill in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Danzer sold the facility to a joint venture between hardwood producer Rossi Group and timberland investment firm Lyme Timber Company. The sale secured the 85 existing jobs at the Bradford facility; plus, the new ownership group is planning to add at least 20 new jobs. Danzer will stay in the North American lumber business with its lumber drying operations in Shade Gap, Pennsylvania. In 1988, Danzer has opened the Bradford sawmill to offer high quality American lumber to customers worldwide. Danzer may re-associate with FSC
Key documents in the context of the potential re-association of Danzer with FSC are now available on the FSC website. The conflict sensitivity due diligence manual is made public together with an action plan by which Danzer shows how the Group is implementing the manual. The swisspeace final report of its mission to assist Danzer and Siforco in meeting their obligations towards the Congolese communities of Bumba is also available. Finally, a progress report by Danzer can be downloaded from the FSC website. The publication of the conflict sensitivity due diligence manual is a step towards fulfilling the second condition for re-association that is the development of a comprehensive conflict prevention and mitigation framework which will be applicable primarily to Danzer’s activities in the Congo Basin.
