Myanmar plans to import wood to save its forests

Myanmar government decided to start importing timber as to protect its forests. Even if the country has been a long time timber producer and exporter, the local timber companies will continue their operations.
U Kyaw Zaw, director of the office of the minister for natural resources and environmental conservation, stated that other countries in the Asia Pacific region have the same plan of conserving their forest resources and decided to import raw timber, according to Myanmar Times.
