India: More interest in sawnwood imports than logs
An analysis of India’s log and sawnwood imports shows that, over the past five years, there has been a steady decline in log imports but that, over the same period sawnwood imports have grown almost 200%. The Indian ‘Ply Reporter’ magazine says that Imports of good quality sawnwood of appropriate dimension leads to a reduction of residues which is a key concern of door manufacturers, construction companies and furniture makers.
