German timber trade suffers from high energy costs
In August, the German Timber Trade Association (GD Holz) carried out a survey on the increased energy costs in the timber trade. Of the 33 companies surveyed, the majority (45%) mainly uses wood to generate heat. Followed by gas at 38% and oil at 10%. 55% of the survey participants state that they produce their own electricity. On average, these companies cover 50% of their electricity needs from their own generation.
