The German furniture industry in a difficult situation
Before the International Furniture Fair in Cologne, Germany (January 13 to 19, 2014), Mr. Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Chief Executive of the German Furniture Industry (VDM), sees Germany’s furniture industry in difficult situation. The traditional German export markets continue to weaken and domestically, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to attract the disposable income of customers towards furniture. Therefore in 2014, the VDM expects only stability as compared to 2013.
