Forest products markets in Europe and North America still slow

Markets show signs of rising consumption for some forest products, though the picture is far from consistent In Europe and North America, forest products consumption is strongly related to construction. The hoped-for recovery from the trough of the 2008 global financial crisis has not materialized. Housing starts in Europe and North America are still only about two-thirds of what they were in 2000.
