Czech Republic: Storms and bark beetle to result in record logging this year; timber prices at historic lows
In 2020, the state-owned company Lesy České republiky (LČR) expects the logging to increase to a new record of over 15 million m3 compared to 13.9 million m3 2019. The reason is the processing of the damaged wood resulted from the bark beetle infestation and wind-thrown wood. That is why Lesy ČR posted a loss of CZK 1 billion (around € 39 million) last year.
