Czech Republic drastically reduces logging as the bark beetle calamity retreats
Last year, with the retreat of the bark beetle calamity, the Czech state enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) reduced logging by 20 percent to 11.41 million cubic meters. In 2020, logging in Czech state forests reached a record 14.4 million cubic meters during the peak calamity.    This year, LČR plans to further reduce production, by a tenth to 10.2 million cubic meters. LČR spokeswoman Eva Jouklová told ČTK yesterday. The company manages almost half of the country's forests.    Bark beetle wood logging fell 42 percent ...
