Canada-US softwood lumber trade on impasse, West Fraser CEO predicts
The US lumber lobby doesn't want to make any compromise regarding the softwood dispute with Canada. This goes for a long impasse in the trade battle, that started back in October 2015, when the 2006 softwood lumber agreement expired. According to The Globe and Mail, the lack of progress in renegotiating the North American freetrade agreement also paints a gloomy outlook for reaching a separate softwood deal any time soon, West Fraser Timber Co.
