Canada starts case at WTO, unless offered a trade deal; US threatens to seize Canadian goods with Chinese softwood imports
Canada has filed a wide-ranging complaint to the World Trade Organization, explaining how the US applies the punitive tarrifs. The US was annoyed by the act and called it a massive attack on the American system of international trade. US trade czar Robert Lighthizer announced that if Canada wins this case, this could lead to a flood of Chinese imports into the U.S. and actually squeeze out Canadian goods, The Canadian Press informs.
