Brazilian timber exports benefiting from steady growth of the US economy
In the first six months of 2017, logs and primary products accounted for most of Brazil’s timber exports and the tonnage exported was some 38% higher than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC). The United States is the largest single buyer of pine plywood produced in Brazil accounting for 34% of exports of this product followed by Europe (30%).
