On 23 June 2026, the UK government announced a strengthened legislative approach to combatting global deforestation in import supply chains with significant implications for the wood and timber industries. Under the new strategy the government plans to introduce regulations for Great Britain (GB) in 2027 that will build upon and strengthen the existing UK Timber Regulation (UKTR).
